Micanopy celebrated its bicentennial in 2021. Located at the center of the Historical Museum is a three-panel exhibit. The first depicts the early settlement with a thumbnail story, “newly found” drawings of the original fort and numerous old photos from our archives. The middle panel shows our town in 1916, The third shows our present-day town with current statistics, photos, and highlighted activities.
In tribute, in November 2021, an original play, “Stirring The Leaves”, written by Violet Asmuth, a long standing member of our Historical Society, was beautifully and professionally presented. It included an all-local cast. There is a booklet with script and photos available in the museum gift shop.
